Tradelink shared challenges and countermeasures on AI-driven fraud for insurers at Insurance Authority Future Task Force meeting

Tradelink was invited by the Insurance Authority (IA) to speak at its Future Task Force meeting on “Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) Adoption”, held at the IA Head Office on 26 March 2025. The event brought together around 100 professionals from the insurance and financial sectors.

Through various case studies, Andrew Cheng, Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer of Tradelink, highlighted how emerging AI-driven fraud is posing challenges for the insurance sector. These AI-created attacks, including synthetic identities, falsified damages/accident claims involving deepfake and AI-generated images or documents, and fraudulent mileage claims involving mock GPS, are compromising traditional identity verification methods and claims processing systems. This not only leads to fraudulent claims but also erodes customer trust. In response, Andrew suggested various countermeasures to help insurers mitigate and stay ahead of these evolving risks, such as leveraging AI-powered tools to identify system vulnerabilities and establish corresponding defence mechanisms, adopting digital signature to combat document frauds and using T-Guard, an app developed by Tradelink that helps identify suspicious and fraudulent activities on mobile devices to prevent malware attacks.

We are delighted to share our expertise and solutions helping insurers explore the possible use of AI to enhance risk management and business efficiency. With a long-standing reputation for delivering best-in-class RegTech and Cybersecurity solutions to the financial services sector in Hong Kong, Tradelink will continue our commitment to upholding the highest security standards for the industry.
